Great North Transport (SOC) is a wholly owned subsidiary of LEDA (Limpopo Economic Development Agency), established after the amalgamation of Gazankulu Transport (Pty) Ltd, Far North Bus Services and Lebowa Transport. Great North Transport operates a fleet of 540 buses, travels 36 million kms and transports over 37.6 million passengers per annum. Great North has more than 279 route networks.
At present, the company renders services within the 5 district municipalities in Limpopo, Mpumalanga (Bohlabela district), Mozambique (Maputo) and Zimbabwe (Harare). It has 11 depots: in Seshego, Mokopane, Bapedi, Phalaborwa, Marble Hall, Giyani, Motetema, Hoedspruit, Tzaneen, Bushbuckridge and Makhado.
The company has 1271 personnel, and employs over 20 Interns yearly, to develop and contribute towards skills development and empowerment of the youth. Great North Transport was founded on five pillars:

- The company operates more than 87 buses for public good (unsubsidised)
Great North Transport buses have an all inclusive insurance against overturning, theft, fire, collusion, Third Party legal liability and passengers legal liability for each seat.
For every trip, our drivers put safety first. Great North is constantly committed to maintaining safety for all passengers. All our buses are under full maintenance contract
Negotiated and Interim Contract
Great North is one of the few companies that started with both negotiated and interim contract in the country. The Company has also empowered other small operators by ceding some of its operations to the following companies / small operators: Madodi, Kopano, MBS, Risabu and Sino.
